Does something need reporting from today's game?

There are two immediately obvious things that need reporting from any match - a booking and/or a sending off. These two items are dealt with in greater detail in a separate link.

What else needs reporting? The simple answer to this is anything which prevents the game from taking place or causes the match to be abandoned once it has started.

Further examples of what needs officially reporting are those incidents which come under the heading of RESPECT issues. These would include being verbally or physically abused by spectators, players or club officials. This is something we take extremely seriously. Thankfully, given the number of games that take place each week, the incidence level percentage is extremely low. Other RESPECT issues would include behaviour which is not appropriate in front of young players such as swearing, belittling of officials, aggressive or threatening behaviour by anyone towards anyone involved in the game. Lesser offences which still need officially reporting are incidents where League rules are not being complied with for example teams not exchanging team sheets or providing the referee with a copy

The above examples definitely require formal reporting. There are however other occasions where we would just ask for a simple email report to yel@live.co.uk These include examples of behaviour by club officials, spectators or players which, whilst not being serious enough to warrant an official report, did make you feel uncomfortable enough to mention. By reporting these less major incidents we may be able to advise the referee the following week to look out for a pattern or confirm that is was probably a one off. If a pattern does emerge we can hopefully prevent something becoming a major issue by nipping it in the bud.

Hopefully we will not have too many reports from you but rest assured, if we do, they will be taken very seriously and dealt with accordingly as we are very protective of our officials regardless of age or experience.

DON'T FORGET THOUGH REPORTING IS A TWO WAY THING. YOU NEED TO BE COOL, CALM, COLLECTED AND PROFESSIONAL AT ALL TIMES AS CLUBS ARE JUST AS ENTITLED TO REPORT REFEREES FOR ANY INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR/LANGUAGE THAT OCCURS
