What do I do if I haven't been contacted about the game?

WEDNESDAY EVENING -

Once you have been appointed to a match it is the home team's responsibility to make contact with you to confirm the details of the game. For allocations that occur over the weekend, clubs are requested to get in touch with the referee by Monday evening. We are all busy people and sometimes confirming the game can be overlooked and it is not confirmed until Tuesday or Wednesday. However, if you have not been contacted by Wednesday evening you must notify the YEL and we will chase the home team up and/or look for another game to re-appoint you to as a contingency. For games appointed on Tuesday or Wednesday as a result of a Late Availability email, give the teams 24 hours to make contact before emailing the YEL.

THURSDAY EVENING -

If it reaches Thursday evening and you have still not received any confirmation, subject to your approval, we will add your name to the REFEREES MATCH-UP on the home page of YELonline.com advising teams that you are available to referee a match that coming weekend. We have this section as we do not, as a rule, make appointments after Wednesday evening as this is the cut-off point for clubs to be aware that they need to start looking for a club official/parent to referee their game. If the match is confirmed after this time please contact us to remove you from the MATCH-UP to avoid you being pestered by other teams looking for referees

DAY OF THE MATCH -

If you have still not had contact from the home team by the day of the game, the advice is simple

- DO NOT GO TO THE GAME UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES

- DO REPORT THE TEAM TO THE YEL AND THEY WILL BE DEALT WITH

You have no way of knowing if the game is on, whether the kick off time has been changed, whether the game has been moved to a different local ground or if the fixture has been reversed. If you do decide to attend it is entirely at your own cost and responsibility as our advice is clearly set out above.
