MATCH-UP - What is it and how to use it

One of the big problems the league has when appointing referees is knowing when to stop! Teams need to have a clear idea of when they need to start lining up a club official or willing parent to referee their Saturday or Sunday match.

The way we have of ensuring they have as much time as possible is by having a cut off point of Wednesday evening. At this time, as a rule, no further appointments tend to be made apart from in exceptional circumstances. From Thursday onwards clubs know they have two to three days to find their own referee.

The problem for us is when a referee emails in on a Thursday or Friday to say they have become available either through their match being cancelled, changes of work shift, their own game time being moved etc etc. We have no idea which teams have found their own ref or, indeed, which team is in the most need of a ref. Where do we start?

To overcome this we have create THE REFEREE MATCH-UP. If you find yourself available and you would like to notify teams of your availability, you simply need to log into Scoreline and click on the the Referee Match-Up calendar and enter your availability by selecting the date and the code you are available i.e. AM, AM2, BOTH etc. Your details will then appear on Match Up which is on the home page of YELonline.com - It will only have your basic information on. In order for teams to access your mobile and/or email address details they will need to have a username and password for Scoreline as the information is password protected.

ONLY PUT YOUR INFORMATION ON MATCH UP ON A THURSDAY MORNING PRIOR TO THE WEEKEND. DO NOT SET IT IN  ADVANCE. YOU MUST REMEMBER TO GO BACK IN AND REMOVE IT IF YOU ACCEPT A GAME OTHERWISE MANAGERS WILL CONTINUE TO CONTACT YOU.

All information will be removed by the end of the weekend ready for the fresh details the following Thursday/Friday.

Any questions, drop the YEL Office an email.
